NCS has secured a major contract with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) to deploy a new web content management system platform. The deal is one of the largest web revamp projects in the country in recent years.

The project is a centerpiece in ABC’s efforts to enhance its competitive position through its current online leadership. ABC Online is Australia’s leading supplier of digital content and is one of the largest podcast and vodcast providers globally. The project will also allow ABC to adopt new technologies to drive greater workflow efficiency.

Under the contract awarded to NCS as the lead services provider, NCS will partner with German-based CoreMedia to implement the CoreMedia Content Management System (CMS) technology platform for ABC. NCS will also migrate three existing ABC websites, including its flagship ABC News website (abc.net.au/news) to the new CMS platform.

The new CMS platform will deliver a more streamlined editorial workflow, as well as accelerate the "time-to-publish" -- a process from uploading to the actual publishing of contents on the websites. The new solution will allow "time-to-publish" within seconds after the story has been approved for publication. ABC Online content makers will be provided with a customized easy-to-use editorial front end for easy content publishing.

“NCS is delighted to contribute to ABC’s strategic growth plans. By delivering this solution to ABC, we will help the organization build a strong and robust online foundation for future web initiatives,” said Lim Yew Seng, group general manager for global business at NCS.

“We’re delighted that ABC has selected CoreMedia CMS as its strategic web content management platform. The contract confirms CoreMedia as the logical choice for major organizations such as ABC that need to engage their web audience with more dynamic content and secure a greater return on their web activities... Reliability, scalability, ease-of-use and speed of implementation are all major project requirements for ABC, so CoreMedia will be working closely with NCSI Australia as an implementation partner to ensure we help ABC achieve its project goals,” added Burghardt Groeber, CoreMedia’s managing director for the Asia Pacific region.”
