Asian CIOs expect 5.32% growth in IT budget despite economic troubles, says Gartner survey

By SearchStorageAsia editors | Mar 6, 2009

According to a worldwide survey of 1,527 chief information officers (CIOs) accomplished by Gartner Executive Programs (EXP) from September 15 to December 15, 2008, Asian CIOs expect their information technology (IT) budgets to increase by a planned 5.32% by 2009 compared to a flat budget growth reported by 0.16% of CIOs worldwide. The survey included 71 CIOs from Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Philippines.

Senior enterprise executives realize that IT’s role in economic performance reaches beyond managing expenditures and touches on reducing enterprise costs. This is achieved not by cost cutting but with modifying business processes, workforce practices and information use.
